7 Challenges of Working from Home
January 2, 2020Do you wonder how it’s like to apply for an online writing job?
I understand that online jobs are gaining popularity here in the Philippines however, most people often wonder how it starts and how the application goes.
In this blog article I will be telling you the step-by-step application process for Wordsmith and my whole experience going through with it.
Step 1: Application through Wordsmith
Well of course, this is the first and easiest part. Head to the link above and submit the indicated requirements. Make sure you submit the best of your sample essays, business reports or dissertations.
For essay samples, I submitted some of the papers I have written in college and an abstract of my thesis.
Step 2: Waiting Stage
Wait for 7 days for Wordsmith to review your application and respond whether you are qualified for the next stage of application.
Well for me personally, this was a stage of great anxiety (haha!). I am usually nervous and anxious waiting for important verdicts so if you’re the same as me, make sure to distract yourself because 7 days can be too long a wait!
Step 3: 1000-Word Test
Now the third stage is you will be informed whether the requirements you presented are eligible enough for your application to proceed for the test. If yes, you will undergo a 1000-word test
This is a crucial stage, because this test determines whether you qualify for the 2-week training. Make sure that you allot proper time for this and that you would not be distracted in completing your output.
Step 4: Training Period
Finally you have reached the training stage!
Please note that successfully qualifying for the writers training does NOT automatically entail that you have been accepted in the job. There will be a final test by the end of the training program (this shall be discussed later).
The training for full-time and part-time applicants lasts for 2 weeks, while the training for freelance writers lasts for 1 week.
It is important to focus during the training period. The training Wordsmith provides prepares you with the necessary understanding and writing skills that one needs to pass the final test.
You may even think that some lectures are too common and you have already studied these lectures before (such as the basics of writing, or structuring an outline), that you may be tempted to skip the lectures and proceed to completing the exercises right away.
Here’s a warning – DON’T!
WHY? It is IMPORTANT to consider that Wordsmith writes for international schools in Asia with varying standards, probably even stricter and more difficult than what you have learned in the past.
HENCE, your personal knowledge and standards for writing academic articles may differ with what Wordsmith employs.
Step 5: Final Test
NOW this is the FINALE. This test determines whether you have been accepted in Wordsmith or not. Make sure that you give all your best for this exam. Remember all the things you have learned from the training and apply them.
In this test, you will be given an exam that writers in Wordsmith actually do.
So this test determines whether you can perform for the job well, hence if you are really qualified as a writer for Wordsmith.
Step 6: Sign Contract and Be Hired
Once you have past the final test, congratulations! You are now officially a writer for Wordsmith!
You will be given a contract to sign which disposes all the terms of your employment.
So there! I hope I provided everything you need to know about applying as a writer for Wrodsmith!
Now gather all your requirements and feel free to apply on the link provided above!
